Early Christmas lunch for young footballers

It was early Christmas for the young soccer stars from Nale Academy when Sedibeng businessman and politician, Johnny 'Mkhonto' Radebe, spoiled them over the past weekend.

SEDIBENG.- Radebe, who is known for his generosity decided to buy the youngsters lunch when they visited Mamelodi Sundowns to play against the club’s development. Radebe decided to host these youngsters and buy them meals at one of the popular food franchises as part of their lunch.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Radebe said that he always supports football activities in the community. He told Sedibeng Ster Sport that he has been passionate about football since he was a young boy growing up in Small Farm, Evaton.  Before COVID, Radebe used to host a big soccer tournament known as the Mkhonto Cup played by the Sedibeng Regional Masters Football Association. The tournament was one of the biggest tournaments to be held in this region. As if this is not enough, earlier this year Radebe donated soccer kits to the Vaal Legends and development teams and schools in Sedibeng.  He told Sedibeng Ster Sport that he is aware that most of the teams don’t have sponsorship and that the kids spend hours at the soccer grounds without food.

“I know the challenges of the development teams growing in the community and I made it my responsibility to help the development teams that are doing a great job to develop these youngsters. I know people think the only time we as politician are doing something is when it is elections time. But there are no elections now and to show that, I am doing this now as I am used to helping those who are in need.  I saw these  youngsters waiting for transport, and I asked their coach where they are going, and he told me they were going to Pretoria, and I decided to to something. We must help people who make a difference in our community, not because we want to gain something.”
