Pupil storyteller inspired by former soccer greats

11- years-old pupil, Sempe Haka, from Qhoweng Primary School in Zone 12 in Sebokeng inspired many with his story telling about  former soccer great Peter 'Fire' Khoabane.

SEBOKENG.- This was at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Oral History Competition where he was representing his school at Sedibeng West District Offices recently.

This young boy took many by surprise when he chose to tell a story about former Vaal Professional and SuperSport United midfielder Peter Khoabane. He gave a detailed background of this former soccer great as a young boy until he played at the highest level of football. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Khoabane said that he wass humbled and speechless at the same time.

“Sometimes we think these kids don’t know us, but I was overwhelmed when they sent me the video of the boy talking about my football history from the beginning. This was extraordinary because most of the time we read negative things about us in the media but for a change this is something positive to be proud of. This show that sport is part of education, and the boy will be remembered for this,” said Khoabane.

Khoabane is one of a few former professional football players who is actively involved in the community after he retired from professional football.
