Police warn public against falling for money trap set by robbers

Police in Sharpeville have given a stern warning to members of the public about a new trend thugs are using to hook and rob them.

SHARPEVILLE. – Police Spokesperson Constable Busiswe Sango says that members of the public should never pick up a roll of money they may come across on their path.

“As soon as you pick this money up, the robber will thank you and give you the roll of money and say that you must  take a reward of R500. While you are busy they will take your belongings and run away with them.”

Sango said that several school children in the Sharpeville vicinity had already fallen victim to this scam.

“I urge parents to tell their children to avoid talking to strangers as some of the kids have already had their educational tablets  and cellphones stolen.”

Sango adviced both adults and kids to be vigilant at all times.
