Are you looking for a fun and easy craft to make with your child today? Why not try your hand (or foot) at these playdough moulds? This craft is incredibly simple to make, and you can rest assured that it is completely child-safe, as it contains no questionable additives or harmful ingredients.
Ingredients
- 1 cup of salt (finer salt works best)
- 1 cup flour
- ½ cup of warm water
- Food colouring
We doubled the recipe and were able to make a handprint and a footprint, and still had some dough left in the fridge for fun playing at a later stage.
How to make it
- Mix the ingredients together and knead the dough until it’s soft and pliable. You can add food colouring to create some fun colours, and you can store the playdough in your fridge for up to 6 months.
- Using a rolling pin, help your tot to roll the dough flat from one end to the other before making the imprint, using hands, feet, leaves, or anything else that takes your fancy. Fingers will also work to press your leaf down.
- Creating leaf imprints is a fun way to get your child to interact with the outside world. It is simple and so much fun.
- A heart shape is perfect for two little feet, and a fun handprint is a great one for the memory box.
- Let your imprints dry in the sun and, once dry, paint with poster paint.
Top tip: Very fine or powdered salt makes for ‘finer’ or smoother dough.
