Exclusive Ford Mustang Mach 1 is coming to Mzansi
Only 90 units of the Mach 1 will be on sale in South Africa.
Ford South Africa is slated to expand its Mustang range with the introduction of the Mach 1 model that slots between the standard Mustang GT and Shelby models.

Powering the Mach 1 is a 5.0-litre V8 engine sourced from the Bullit. The V8 unit pumps out 338 kW/ 529 Nm and also employs a standard high-performance six-speed manual derived from the Shelby GT350. Buyers can also opt for the 10-speed automatic transmission at an additional charge.
According to Ford, both transmissions receive numerous performance, cooling and calibration enhancements that are specific to Mach 1.
The exterior of the Mach 1 is bolstered with a bold grille that pays tribute to the original model,. There is extensive use of low-gloss Magnetic dark grey and black accents. At the rear, the Mach 1 is fitted with a rear spoiler for aerodynamic purposes while the rear axle spawns a cooling system.
The bonnet is painted in satin black while the side stripes get orange accents. The brake callipers are painted orange while ‘Mach 1’ badging appears on the front fenders.
There is a Shelby GT500-sourced lower diffuser. It runs on a set of new 19-inch five-spoke Tarnished Dark-painted aluminium wheels shod with 255/40R19 tyres in front and 275/40R19 at the back.
The SA-bound Mustang Mach 1 models are painted in distinctive metallic Fighter Jet Grey with the Appearance Package as standard.
The interior is fitted with orange seatback accents and a Dark Spindrift instrument panel with aluminium accents. There are new door sill plates as well as an updated splash screen on the 12.3-inch full LCD instrument cluster.
Other features include Mach-1-branded door-sill scuff plates and engraved badging on the instrument panel that displays the vehicle’s unique chassis number.
