Toyota introduces luxury people mover

Setting itself apart from the rest of the range, the VX features a chrome-finished grille fitted to the front in between the two LED headlamps. On the lower apron, you will find the two LED fog lamps connected by a thin chrome strip. The theme extends onto the sides with the power adjusted mirrors, which feature blind-spot monitoring and auto-retracting functionality, also finished in chrome to match the door handles. The rear also sees chrome garnishing to match the VX moniker fitted on the tailgate door. In all four corners, you will find 17-inch alloy wheels shod with 235-60-R17 tyres.

While the exterior somewhat resembles the popular commuter vehicle, the interior of the 9-seater has been transformed to exude comfort and refinement with larger seats, independent rear climate control and multiple USB ports for occupants. The second and third row is made up of two large leather seats adorned with wood trim and bathed in blue lighting with power-adjustment for the backrest and fitted with armrests and leg rests. The third row features a three-seat bench, capable of a 60/40 split. The VX comes fitted with dual power-operated sliding doors while the driver and front passenger has access to Toyota’s Audio Visual Navigation touchscreen infotainment system and climate control.

In addition to the smart entry and start functionality, the driver has access to a variety of assistant features including the pre-collision safety system with pedestrian and cyclist detection, active cruise control, lane departure alert, road sign assist and automatic high beam. The Quantum also come fitted with rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, reverse camera and nine airbags. Motivation comes from a four-cylinder, 2.8-litre, turbodiesel engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission which sends a 115 kW and 420 N.m of torque to the rear wheels.
