VANDERBIJLPARK.- There was no shortage of drama when Sedibeng West District hosted the Winter Schools Ball Games at the Shakespeare Stadium in Vanderbijlpark over the weekend.

The annual games were held to select the schools to represent Sedibeng West District in the Regional Winter Ball Games that are scheduled to take place at Isak Steyl Stadium in Vanderbijlpark on Saturday.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, the Sedibeng West District Sports Coordinator, Nkoali Botsane said the games went well despite challenges with some players not providing correct documents. Botsane said some of the schools didn’t have other sporting codes such as tennis and hockey which were supposed to form part of the Winter Ball Games. “We know every year we experience this challenges of documents and it seems that some schools do not learn.”

Botsane told Sedibeng Ster Sport that the Regional Winter Ball Games for the primary schools are scheduled to take place at Isak Steyl Stadium this Friday, while the secondary schools’ will take place on Saturday at the same venue.

The Gauteng Sedibeng Department of Sports and Recreation Promotion Officer Nkosinathi Nolusu also hailed the games as a success although he said that there is still room for improvement from the schools as far as the administration is concerned.
