Roshnee pensioner shot dead during a house robbery

VEREENIGIGNG. - A 66-year-old woman and two others believed to be culprits were shot and killed in a house robbery in Roshnee on Tuesday.

It is alleged that three suspects, two females and one male attempted to rob the pensioner who was with her domestic worker at the time.

Accoding to Police Spokesperson Sergeant Gertrude makhale, the three demanded money from the old lady. When she told them that there was no money in the house, they told her they knew for sure that there was indeed money in the house. The old woman then told the culprits where the money was.

“While the culprits were busy packing the money, the old lady screamed saying that they should please take everything they want  and not kill her. ”

Makhale says the neighbours heard the pensioner scream and called for help. The house was eventually surrounded by the neighbourhood watch.

“The male culprit then shot the pensioner and one his accomplices dead, he tried to shoot the other accomplice but she escaped  and that was when he turned the gun on himself.”

Makhale confirms that three people were declared dead on the scene. “The Domestic worker is still alive and the female suspect has since been arrested. Police are investigating a case of murder and house robbery. Investigations are still ongoing.”
