Local models leave catwalks smouldering

Siblings, Nicole and Banie Barnard, both models from Body Fit Fashions in Carletonville, recently made their mark at two different international modelling competitions. They first competed in Little Mr and Miss Earth 2016 at Gold Reef City from 28 February to 5 March, when they had to do modelling, interviews and pageantry, and danced the samba as part of the talent category. Amone Modelling Academy, owned by the national director, Amanda Kriel, hosted the event and welcomed contestants from all over the world to compete in South Africa. Both the local models took the win in their respective categories. Banie won the prize for the best dressed in evening wear and both won the prize for the best model and Talent Earth. The national director from Brazil, Mr D’ Avila from Curitiba, invited Nicole over to compete in Little Miss Nations 2016 in August. On 3 April, they flew to Georgia to compete in the Little Miss and Mr Galaxy 2016 – another international competition with the same format – this time hosted by Mrs Eka Mgaloblishvili in Tibilisi and Kutaisi in Georgia until 10 April. After competing for seven days, both Banie and Nicole were crown as Mr and Miss Galaxy 2016, winning their categories. Another model from Body Fit Fashions who is leaving her mark is 17-year-old Lynette Viljoen, in Gr. 11 at Hoerskool Fochville. She started modelling when she was just 4 years old. Lynette has recently returned from a competition in Antalya near Turkey, where she came up against approximately 40 contestants. They competed against each other for the whole week and stayed in a 5-star hotel. Lynette

said she loved her time there and that experiencing such a great thing was the best feeling, ever. Her mom encouraged and inspired her to do modelling and Lynette has won several modelling and singing competitions.
