VANDERBIJLPARK. – To compete in Varsity Sports’ Basketball you have to be on top of your game, every game. This lesson was learnt on the hard way by the Vaal University of Technology and North-West University’s men’s basketball teams during the Varsity Basketball tournament currently taking place at the University of the Witwatersrand.
NWU Vaal kicked off their tournament with a 82-29 drubbing against UJ but bounced back to defeat UKZN 85-80, but lost against Wits (82-45) and Tukkies (78-48).
VUT on the other hand hit the ground running after consecutive victories over Tukkies (56-55), the UWC (86-83) and UCT (67-48) but came unstuck on Sunday afternoon by 63-51 against UKZN.
