Sedibeng history is well documented!

There is this old man by the name of Ntate Tsolo who used to visit Sedibeng Ster Sports offices to talk about football now and then. The last time TOUCHLINE saw this intellectual old man was writing Coaching Manuel Book in Sesotho. He was former soccer player himself played for the Moroka Swallows during those hey days.

The truth be told, we as Sedibeng football fraternity have failed our own “treasurers” and Ntate Tsolo was one of those people whom we were supposed to honour and take care of them. He was one of the few “gray hair” who will visited our offices to share Vaal football history with TOUCHLINE. Mahlomola “Taylor” Mokoena was one of those wise men who now and then visit to share his taught with this newspaper to be published.

TOUCHLINE learned so much about COACHING from people like Bra Taylor and Ntate Tsolo because they were willing to share information with Vaal community. For example, over the weekend myself and other coaches were talking about the former Safa President Dr Molefi Oliphant. Yes this is the very same man who under his leadership this country hosted the 2010 World Cup.
The question that TOUCHLINE asks is when will Sedibeng Community or local government honour this man by building the stadium and named after this icon. Those with selective memories would say “what Bra Oli” did for Sedibeng”? Look under his leadership this region used to host national and international events or tournaments.
How can I forget the four national tournament that used to take place the now defunct or now car spinning Kwa-Masiza Stadium him his area as Safa President. Banyana Banyana and SA National U/20 also used to come and play here in Vaal.
While still as Safa President he make sure that he empowered local football administrators such as Sipho Nkumane, Selokelo “Bra Chicks” Masetle and a host of others. Bafana Bafana kit manager and driver were from Vaal. Even today, there are those who still work at Safa who recruited by “Bra Oli” to say the least.
For starters, “Bra Oli” as is affectionately known in soccer circle is the former Safa Vaal President and former Director Of Education in this region. Generation after general the history of this region is well documented and Ntate Tsolo and if it wasn’t people like bo Ntate Tsolo and others we couldn’t know about teams such as Home Defender FC, Transvaal Jumpers FC, Meyerton Swallows FC. Sedibeng lets honour our icons!
