Young golf player excels again

A young golf star from Carletonville once again did very well at a big tournament recently.

A young golf star from Carletonville once again did very well at a big tournament recently. Ockert Brits from the Goldfields West golf club managed to scoop up a fourth position in the u.13 gross category at the North West Mid-Amateur Open that was held in Rustenburg recently. Divan Mostert (Klerksdorp) was first in this category, Corné Pieters (Orkney) second and Rorisang Nkosi (Pecan- wood) third. The senior competition for players over the age of 30 held as part of the same tournament was won by Ryan Dreyer from Gauteng after a playoff against Albert Britz (Potchefstroom) after both players carded a 69 in the shortened tournament. Slade Pickering (Pecanwood) won the u.19 gross category, André van Dyk (Klerksdorp) the u.17, Tiaan Diedericks (Leopard Park) the u.15 and Janko van der Merwe (Magalies Park) the u.11 winner.
