Do you own a car and that little card that says you can drive it? Great, then you are legally “allowed” on the road. But should you be? That is the question that comes to mind when watching the road rage videos posted in the last couple of weeks.
Remember the one where the BMW driver actually put his own life in danger just because he was impatient and spiteful with a fellow driver? What about the most recent one where there was actually a man with a panga threatening a woman.
The scary part is that there have been reported cases where people were actually killed due to road rage taken to a whole different level. Now I ask you, what happens in your mind that you go from angry to crazy in a matter of seconds? Believe me, I have been in a few situations where there were a few loonies on the road and I felt like screaming, but never in my life have a thought about driving someone off the road or actually killing them.
Okay, did I mention that I drive the smallest car known to man, so I don’t exactly exude confidence. Aha! Maybe that is the problem, some people think that they should drive 200km/h, just because they can and then they grow impatient with the drivers that actually follow the rules of the road. But then on the other hand you get drivers that actually drive too slow and that is also a problem. I guess if you just follow the rules of the road, then there shouldn’t be an issue. Now it sounds great in theory, but the practical part is a problem… for some…
But how do we solve the problem? Well, you don’t… ‘Cause you can only control your own behavior while driving. So next time you are in a situation where someone drives like an idiot, rather than cursing the person (he/she can’t hear you), blow them a kiss or literally smile and wave. Don’t let them spoil your day and don’t even engage in a pointless argument, whether it be via your mouth or your hands (fingers). Yeah, you know what I mean.
At the end of the day you will only put your life and your passengers’ lives in danger. It is your decision. So drive safe and reach your destination. And if you want to be famous, rather be known for the good you do, than be known as that idiot in the road rage video on YouTube.
