SEBOKENG.- Octopus FC were crowned the undisputed U12 Heist of Combos Diski Challenge champions.
The team achieved this feat after they beat Sebokeng Ajax 1-0 in the final. This clash took place at Saul Tsotetsi Sports Centre on September 28.
Octopus FC booked their spot in the final after they beat Lakeside Future Stars 1-0 in the semi-finals, while Sebokeng Ajax beat Vaal Sports Academy 2-0.
The tournament started with a points system then progressed to the knockout stage with Octopus FC being the last men standing. The two finalists played with a brand-new soccer kit branded Heist of Combos Diski Challenge. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, tournament director Thabo Mathinye hailed this U12 tournament as a great success, the first of its kind to take place in Sedibeng.
Mathinye congratulated Octopus for being crowned the 2024 champions. He thanked all the teams that participated in the tournament. and also credited the success of this tournament to the team managers and coaches.
“We want to thank everyone that made an effort in taking part in this tournament and I can safely say we have a lot of talent that need to be taken care of before it is too late. I also want to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors and partners who made it possible to host a tournament of such magnitude to the youth.
