Murder and attempted murder in Evaton

"The husband had a bullet wound on the stomach and his friend on the chest and left hand."

EVATON.– A case of murder and another of attempted murder is being investigated after a man died at the Levai Mbatha Clinic in Evaton recently.

Police said that they received a complaint of a murder at the clinic, and upon their arrival they saw a man (34) lying on a stretcher with two bullet wounds, he was not showing any signs of life.

According to his wife, when she came back from work her husband was in the shack (a zozo) where they are staying and she was in the main house. She then heard two gunshots. When she went outside to check what was happening, there was a man at her gate who warned her not to come close or he was going to shoot her. He then called his friend who was nearby and they ran away.

“The wife then went to check on her husband and she found him lying next to the bed and her husband’s friend was next to him. The husband had a bullet wound on the stomach and his friend on the chest and left hand,” said Constable Thulisile Msibi.

The injured men were immediately taken to the Levai Mbatha Clinic for medical attention, and the husband was declared dead upon arrival. The friend (27) was then transferred to the Sebokeng Hospital for medical attention.

“The Evaton Station commander Brigadier Sibuyi is discouraging such behaviour and the killings in the area.  Murders and hijackings are on the rise and the Station commander is appealing to the community members that if anyone has any information that might assist in arresting such criminals, they should please come forward and the community must not take the law into their hands.”

Investigations are ongoing.
