Gabone FC and 016 Magista FC promoted to Hollywoodbets Regional League

To date, these play-offs were postponed more than twice prior to taking place at the said venue on the specific date.

SEDIBENG.- Gabone FC and 016 Magista FC have been promoted to the South African Football Association (SAFA) Sedibeng Hollywoodbets Men’s Regional League for 2024/2025 season.

The teams from Lesedi Local Football Association were promoted to the regional league after the Emfuleni Local Football Association and Midvaal Local Football Association withdrew from the play-offs. In fact, the play-offs did take place at Ratanda Stadium on August 31, but discontinued after the two LFAs were found guilty.

The two LFAs who were represented by T-Squad and All Blacks FC were found guilty by an Independent Disciplinary Committee (IDC) chaired by Advocate Zenzile Majenge. The IDC found the two teams guilty after their opponents lodged a protest against them.

Emfuleni and Midvaal were found guilty for registering players outside the window period for 2023/2024 season. Initially, the two LFAs were banned from participating in the play-offs, however, SAFA Sedibeng President Solly Mkhabela overruled his executive committee’s decision to endorse the two to be allowed to be part of these promotional play-offs.

Sedibeng Ster Sport is in possession of the letter from SAFA Sedibeng Regional Leagues Coordinator, Mandla Dipanyekga. The letter reads: “This letter serves to confirm the Regional Executive Committee has made a resolution to cancel Regional Play-Offs on the basis that Emfuleni LFA and Midvaal LFA failed to comply by registering players outside the window period, stipulated in the SAFA Competitions Uniform Rules.

This therefore means that Lesedi LFA teams 016 Magista FC and Gabon FC get an automatic promotion to Hollywoodbets Men’s Regional League after nullifying of Emfuleni Local Football Association and Midvaal Local Football Association Promotion League.”

To date, these play-offs were postponed more than twice prior to taking place at the said venue on the specific date. In fact, SAFA Sedibeng is not strange to find themselves at the wrong side of the law.
