Devastating discovery of young mother’s body

Letsie’s lifeless body was discovered on September 15 by her 12-year-old son at their residence in Evaton.

EVATON – It seems that femicide incidents are still persisting in the Vaal Triangle. This is after the police launched a murder case docket following the death of a 29-year-old mother of four, Nthofela Letsie.

Letsie’s lifeless body was discovered on September 15 by her 12-year-old son at their residence in Evaton.

Police spokesperson Constable Thulisile Msibi says Nthofela was lying next to her bed on the floor.

“The deceased had blood on her nose and ears, she was not responsive. The son then sent his six-year-old sibling to go and call their aunt who also stays at the same stand in Avondale.”

Msibi said preliminary investigations revealed that the bedroom window of the deceased was open. Msibi added that police suspect that entry was gained through the window because the door was still locked.

Msibi confirmed that a 34-year-old African male was arrested in connection with her death.

Sister of the deceased Nthabeleng Letsie said that she did not realise that her sister had been in an abusive relationship.

“Come to think of it, my sister was always wearing long sleeve garments even when the sun was scorching hot. I think she was trying to cover up her bruises”

“My sister loved her partner and she was always trying to cover up things he was being accused of, no matter how horrible they were.”

“Her boyfriend moved out of their home after they had a fight a few weeks ago. I am shocked and hurt by what happened. I feel so guilty, maybe I could have done something to prevent my sister’s murder.”

Msibi stated that the suspect will soon appear at the Sebokeng Magistrate’s Court.”
