Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Mphene said he was not home when this happened. He told Sedibeng Ster that he received a call from his neighbours that his house was burning, but when he arrived it was too late. The neighbours tried to help but with no success. Mphene claimed that the house was set on fire by his stepson after he had a fight with his mother.

Mphene, who is unemployed, told Sedibeng Ster that he doesn’t even know where to start to rebuild the house since he doesn’t work.

“The problem started after I had an argument with the boy’s mother. Everyone thought it was electrical fault, but I knew it wasn’t. I told the neighbours this has nothing to do with an electrical fault because I know someone was involved in this. I am left with nothing, everything in the house is burnt including furniture and my clothes. I don’t know what I’m going to do,” said Mphene.

However, some good Samaritans have already started to offer assistance to Mphene. Aynone who wants to help, can contact Mphele on 071 978 8350. Or they can go visit Mphele at No 1342 Bhekuzulu Street.

Sedibeng Ster can confirm that a case has been opened at the Boipatong Police Station and the suspect has been arrested.
