Golden Gardens Primary receives state of the art library

Khumalo said that this marked the biggest gift her children had ever received. Khumalo said her school would now be busy even on weekends as her pupils would flock to the school to enjoy some downtime of reading books over weekends.

SEBOKENG – The Principal of Golden Gardens Primary School, Ouma Khumalo, was overcome with excitement when the trustees of DP World and Motus Community Trust handed over a state-of-the-art library and resource centre at her school.

Khumalo said that this marked the biggest gift her children had ever received. Khumalo said her school would now be busy even on weekends as her pupils would flock to the school to enjoy some downtime of reading books over weekends. She encouraged her kids to use the library for upliftment purposes, citing that if used effectively, the library would help most of them improve their marks.

Khumalo thanked the trust for the donation and her staff for the encouragement and support.
The library is the 82nd library to be handed over by the Trust. The event was marred by a choir performance, traditional dancing and poem recital by pupils.

Darius Rasool from Logistics SSA said he was inspired by the spirit carried by the children at Golden Gardens Primary School.

“It is the first time that I am launching a library. I took a walk inside and this library is state of the art. When we were young, we would go to the public library but libraries have evolved a lot since then. I urge learners to use the resources. Treat the library as a place of learning and growing your knowledge and not something you just do as a part of school work. You can use the library as a place where you do your research about anything you would like to learn about.”

District Official Saatie Raath said they are grateful for the investment by the DP World and Motus Community Trust in Sedibeng District.
