Forces joined to strengthen crime prevention through sports in Gauteng

“The aim of this event was to keep youth entertained and out of the streets."

SHARPEVILLE.- The Gauteng Social Crime Prevention hosted the Youth Against Substance Abuse and gangsterism sports tournament at the George Thabe Stadium in Sharpeville last week.

Five Districts of the Gauteng Youth Desk and Social Crime Prevention came together to host sports against crime awareness in different sporting
codes, including soccer, netball, running, walking, aerobics, and tennis.

“The aim of this event was to keep youth entertained and out of the streets. Various stakeholders such as SAPS, Youth Desk, Emfuleni Social Crime Prevention, Community Policing Forum, Siyabangena Patrollers, Sedibeng Community Safety, Initiation Schools Forum to new only a few, formed part of the event,” said police spokesperson, Constable Busisiwe Sango.
