SEDIBENG.- The Vaal Netball Legends Team made Sedibeng proud when they finished second place in the national tournament held at Vryheid in KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday and Sunday.

The Vaal Netball Legends Team competed in the over 40 category and came second in the group stages before they lost in the semi-finals against Ethekwini. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Sedibeng Netball Federation President Fakazile Nketsing said it was not easy with a team of only eight players and there were no substitutions.

However, Nketsing told Sedibeng Ster Sport that despite all these challenges finishing second in the group stages was something to be proud of as the Vaal Netball Legends Team. She said the players were prepared to fight for each other in the netball court and it came as no surprise when they finished second place in the group.

“We are happy with our performance because we were competing against 24 teams. I must compliment our players because they show unwavering attitude against all odds. I was overwhelmed by the team’s spirit in the court. No one noticed that we had only eight players because we played and fought as a team,” said Nketsing.

Nketsing believes that the Vaal Netball Legends Team was one of the best teams in the tournament.
