Man gunned down in Sharpeville

A friend of the family, Putsoe Thinane, said he is hurt by the manner in which his friend was killed. "He had plans for his life and unfortunately those plans have been cut short."

SHARPEVILLE – The police are on a manhunt following the fatal shooting of David Tlali (42) from Tshepiso, Phase 5. Tlali’s lifeless body was discovered at his gate by a passerby in the early hours of August 12.

Police Spokesperson Sergeant Thembeka Maxambela says: “The car belonging to the deceased was found abandoned at the scene. Preliminary investigations show that the deceased was shot as he opened his gate. He was found lying on the ground in the early hours of the morning.”

Maxambela adds that police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Speaking to Ster North, neighbours said that they heard gunshots after 22:00, but were too afraid to go outside and check what was going on.

Wife of the victim, Nthabiseng Tlali (41) said that she was with her husband for a while on Sunday as she is currently visiting her mom in a different area in Sharpeville. “I was shocked when my mom and his friend came to my workplace to alert me of what had happened. I have so many questions and no answers. It is a very difficult time.”
