Madimabe wins gold

When she retires, she intends to share her netball knowledge with upcoming netball players in her hometown of Beverly Hills.

SEBOKENG – A local netball star Thato Madimabe (30) won a gold medal when the Crinums Netball Club was crowned as the 2024 Telkom Netball League champions.

This was after the Crinums Netball Club finished at the summit of the Telkom Netball League in the Free State.

This league netball programme started on April 26 and finished on June 19 with Crinums Netball Club being the undisputed champions for the Fezile Dabi District. Madimabe said she was still in a celebrating mood when Sedibeng Ster Sport asked her how she feels about being the champion. This was her immediate response, “I’m very excited to be part of the winners. When the season began in April, we told ourselves that we would be challenging the league title. There was great teamwork and I’m excited about winning my first gold medal with the club.”

Telkom Netball League is one of the biggest leagues and as a player winning gold medal means a lot. Like I said, I’m still excited and celebrating this victory like it happened yesterday,” said Madimabe.

To date, Madimabe is one of the local girls who decided to join the Free State netball teams in an attempt to pursue a career. Sedibeng Ster Sport was told that there are more opportunities for players playing in the Free State. Madimabe said when she retires, she intends to share her netball knowledge with upcoming netball players in her hometown, Beverly Hills where she said there is lot of talent that needs to be developed.

Sedibeng Netball Federation President, Fakazile Nketsing was the first to congratulate Madimabe for her achievement.
