Corporate companies and law enforcement give back to the community

Mandela once emphasised that a nation that does not invest in its youth, does not invest in its future.

SHARPEVILLE – The life and legacy of Nelson Mandela is celebrated on July 18 every year and on this day, everyone is urged to dedicate 67 minutes of their time to make a difference in someone’s life.

Seriti New Vaal, Kotex, Gauteng Traffic Wardens (Mapanyaza) and Rotary Riverside devoted their 67 minutes on Mandela Day to the children of Matsie-styn Primary and donated various needed items. Seriti New Vaal donated school shoes to the learners, as many of them come from less fortunate households where they can’t afford to buy school shoes. Kotex South Africa donated dignity packs to the girls and Rotary Riverside donated books.

Nelson Mandela once said “A nation without education is like a ship without a compass.”

Russell Stevens, founder of Rotary Riverside, said that he has a heart for changing township schools and believes their lives will be enriched through books and reading.

In an Interview, Majane Nhlapo the principal and a teacher at Matsie-styn Primary, said “ we are celebrating a great man, a revolutionary, a martyr and a selfless man. Mandela was committed to liberation. His legacy lives on in the people and I would like to thank all the sponsors that were here today for their dedication to change lives.”

Mandela once emphasised that a nation that does not invest in its youth, does not invest in its future. He also believed that education has the power to transform individuals, communities, and societies as a whole.
