Local dancer represents SA at competition in Prague

He has been dancing professionally since 2016 after he started his dancing career back in 2007 in high school.

SEBOKENG. – Sandile Mazibuko (23) is a young man with big dreams of conquering the world with his dance talent.

Mazibuko represented South Africa at the Dance World Cup Competition held in Prague, Czech Republic from June 27 – July 6. This was after he qualified to represent the country in this competition with a total number of 9 500 dancers from 54 countries competing for gold, silver and bronze medals.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Mazibuko said it was a great experience to participate against the best dancers in the world.

He defied all odds and won silver and bronze medals.

The dancers were challenged to learn different dance styles and Mazibuko was one of the outstanding dancers who impressed the judges in this category.

“This was the best experience, and I look forward to teaching what I learned to high school students so that they too can see the broader global community and the many opportunities that are available to them on top of their academics. This is my fourth year towards obtaining my teaching degree at the University of Witwatersrand and I’m looking forward to being a teacher. I want to thank everyone who made this possible for me by raising funds for the trip. I went to various radio stations asking help from the community and I want to thank them for making my dreams a reality,” said Mazibuko.

This is not the first time Mazibuko represented South Africa at international competitions, he also represented the country at the DanceStars World Cup held in Croatia in 2023. This multi-talented youngster has been participating in many talent shows and dance competitions. Some of his dance styles include Street and Urban Dance, Krump, Hip Hop, Afro and Amapiano.

Mazibuko told Sedibeng Ster that he has been dancing professionally since 2016 after he started his dancing career back in 2007 in high school. He revealed to Sedibeng Ster that he is currently a Hip-Hop instructor at the Dance@Wits Club at the University of Witwatersrand where he is also a student.
