SEDIBENG. – Mandisa ka Magwa-Phuncu (35) is a visionary fashion designer with a deep-rooted passion for creativity which was instilled by her mother’s artistry in clothing.

She intends to leave no stone unturned in achieving her dreams as one of the notable names in the fashion industry. In fact, she is one of the most popular fashion designers originating from Sedibeng. At the tender age of 12, Phuncu showed interest to become a household name in this industry through her Africa-inspired brand called Amari Woman.

Sedibeng Ster bumped into this beautiful mother of two at the House of Sarah Fashion Exhibition at the Sharpeville Exhibition Centre in Sharpeville earlier this year. She was one of the guests’ speakers at the event who wanted to inspire the up-and-coming fashion designers in the industry. In an exclusive interview with Sedibeng Ster, Phuncu said it is a privilege to share her life experiences with people.

This former Miss Emfuleni is an inspiration to other women out there, especially young women in her industry.  She is in the Top 30 for Mrs South Africa.

“I entered Mrs South Africa for brand visibility for Amari Woman as it also stands for sisterhood, empowerment and community. This year my brand will be turning three and I’m open to collaborate with other brands that seek to get visibility within the social media space. Amari Woman is the embodiment of my creative spirit. It stands for unity and strength among women. The brand recognises the unstoppable impact when women join forces,” she said.

Besides fashion, Phuncu is dedicated to community development and empowerment, using her brand as a powerful vehicle to ensure no one is left behind.

She concluded her interview with Sedibeng Ster by stating that her career was shaped by her commitment to both fashion and the interpersonal aspects of business, particularly through coaching and development.
