RESA dominates DGL local derby

“I’m pleased with how we play even though we lost almost every game but I must say, the team is improving."

VEREENIGING.- Remember Elite Sports Academy (RESA) dominated a local derby when they beat NWU Vaal in almost every division in the Gauteng Development League (DGL).

This local derby took place at President Park Stadium in Vereeniging over the weekend with RESA been the hosting team. The day’s fixtures started with the u/13 game with RESA beating NWU Vaal 2-0. The game was stopped after ten minutes of play s after the match officials realised that the paramedics had not arrived as per rules of DGL. The match officials had to stop the game after one of the NWU Vaal player was injured and there was no paramedics to attend him. However, it was not a serious injury.

The game resumed immediately after the paramedics’ team arrived at the venue. When the game was stopped, RESA was leading 1-0. It was a great game of football with parents and supporters enjoying each and every moment of action. In another game, which formed part of GDL, RESA and NWU Vaal shared the spoils when they played to a goalless draw in the u/15.

RESA showed dominance when they beat NWU Vaal 3-0 in the u/17. As if this was not enough, RESA also beat NWU Vaal 2-1 in another game which formed part of GDL.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Tebello Kheswa who is the NWU Vaal FC Head of Development said he was happy with the progress made by all the divisions. Despite losing to RESA, Kheswa said there was a huge improvement from his team especially the u/13.

“I’m pleased with how we play even though we lost almost every game but I must say, the team is improving. It is work in progress especially for our u/13 team. We worked hard during the school holidays to prepare them for these DGL games,” said Kheswa.
