Vaal Creative Network keeps kids busy

The aim of this project is to empower the children while still young.

SEBOKENG.- June is a busy month with many activities taking place across the country to celebrate Youth Month, however, other activities are held to keep children away from the streets during the school holidays.

Vaal Creative Network (VCN) is one of the organisation that has rolled their sleeves to keep the children off the street at this time of the year. The VCN is a forum that advocates for creativity art or art and culture practitioners that believes in investing in young people. The organisation hosted art and culture lessons for young children at Eldorado Park Hall in Zone 14, Sebokeng to keep children during the school holidays.

This was revealed to Sedibeng Ster by Amos Stoki, the self-claimed ‘Hustle Pastor’ who also told Sedibeng Ster that the aim of this project is to empower the children while still young.

“We decided to introduce this program to the children because the elderly will take time to understand, hence we decided to involve the children. I was overwhelmed by the attendance. We really appreciate the support of the parents whose response was positive. The project introduced skills development in the creative art industry which is not taught at school level. School holidays is the perfect time to get these kids and also aiming at removing them from streets,” said Stoki, further adding that the children were also taught acting, dance, sewing,  and how to play anything that has to do with creative art.
