Sedibeng D7 District schools compete in choral music competitions

 The schools that took part at this annual district choral music eliminations competitions were from Sharpeville, Vereeniging, Meyerton and Heidelberg.

SEDIBENG.-  Sedibeng East District (D7) schools participated at the ABC Motsepe South African Schools Choral Eisteddfod eliminations competitions held at the packed Heidelberg Hall recently.

The day’s programme started with the singing of the National Anthem before proceedings saw the schools taking the stage to compete against each other for first position as the hall was packed with learners who came to support their respective schools. The schools that took part at this annual district choral music eliminations competitions were from Sharpeville, Vereeniging, Meyerton and Heidelberg.

The competition was for both the primary and secondary schools.

The two schools that finish first and second will proceed to the regional level where they will compete against the likes of Sedibeng West District, Gauteng West and Johannesburg West.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Thabang Latlaka who is the D7 Education Support Unit said the Regional Choral Music is scheduled to take place at Krugersdorp Centenary Hall from July 10 – 12. Letlaka said it was a great talent in displayed on the day with a blind student, Masego Lizwe from Sibonile Blind School stunning in the auditions. Letlaka said they are looking forward to the regional competition and he was confident that the district is going to make them proud.

He was full of compliments for the hard working team of adjudicators who were tasked with the responsibilities to make this event a great success. The team was composed of Musawenkosi Mkhabela, Ayanda Mkhize, Thando Mabuza, Ignitious Maphothoma and Calvin Mofokeng.

“I want to thank this dedicated adjudicating team for their dedication and hard work to ensure that we have winners on the day. It was not an easy task because the standard was very high, but they did a good job. Congratulations to the schools that will be representing our district at regional competitions. We wish them all the best, and I have no doubt that they are going to make us proud,” he concluded.
