Sebokeng SAPS hosts GBV and substance abuse awareness

"Users of drugs that came to be assisted with rehabilitation were referred to 'Toughest Young Minds' and other NPO's that deal with substance abuse."

SEBOKENG.- The  Sebokeng SAPS Social Crime and VFF ( Victim Friendly Facility) hosted a GBV and substance awareness in Zone 14, Sebokeng this week.

The following stakeholders assisted Sebokeng SAPS in making this awareness a success.

– ⁠CPF
– GTW
– ⁠Emfuleni Public Safety
– ⁠Department  of Sports , Arts and Culture
– ⁠Department of Community Safety
– ⁠Indibano
– ⁠Toughest Young Minds (NPO)
– ⁠Sukumalutsha (NPO)

The event was aimed at raising awareness to elderly about crime such as GBV, theft of old age grant, and sexual assault. Police spokesperson, Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane said that about seventy people, mostly the elderly, attended the event, and different stakeholders addressed them about the following:

– Reporting GBV
– ⁠Hot spot area
– Using e-panic button and,
– ⁠Where to refer their children/grandchildren who  are addicted to substances

“The contact numbers of the Station Commander, Brigadier Thembekile Kubone, were given to all attendees and a a fitness instructor from Sukumalutsha, encouraged the elderly to exercise often to ensure that they stay healthy. Afterwards, he did a short aerobics session with them. Users of drugs that came to be assisted with rehabilitation were referred to ‘Toughest Young Minds’ and other NPO’s that deal with substance abuse.”
