ATM bombed in Evaton

The guard saw three men with pistols and rifles, were wearing black clothes.

EVATON.-  Barely a week after four Zone 7 stores Automated Teller Machines (ATM) were blown-up, a case of ATM bombing is being investigated by the Evaton Police after an ATM was bombed at the corner of West and Adams Road on Tuesday morning.

Police spokesperson, Constable Thulisile Msibi said that the police received a complaint of ATM bombing at about 02:15, and upon their arrival they met with a security guard who informed them that he was inside the guard room when he saw three men with pistols and rifles, were wearing black clothes.

“These men were walking around the Engen garage and went to the Nedbank ATM and walked away after putting something on the ATM. The security guard then heard loud bangs from the ATM, after sometime when it was quiet, he went to check what’s happening (and) he realised that the ATM was damaged,” said Msibi.

No suspects have been arrested as yet and a case of ATM bombing was opened at Evaton SAPS for further investigation.
