DJ Bayonic nominated for the MAMA’s Awards

SEBOKENG. – Prolific Lekoa FM Disc-Jockey (DJ), Nkosana Maleka commonly known as ‘DJ Bayonic’ has been nominated for the Mzansi Arts and Media Awards (MAMA’s) in the category, Best Radio Presenter.

The MAMA’s are an exciting way of bringing artists together and empowering them to do well within their industry.

After relocating to the Vaal from Arlington, Free State, in 2009 to continue with his studies, Dj Bayonic developed the love for radio and Disc Jockeying (DJ). He spun his first vinyl in 2012 and from there on learned how to ‘play’ at parties and night clubs.

Dj Bayonic was also part of the team that formed Greed Dee Entertainment, as a silent partner, holding major events around Vaal. After completing matric at Jordan High School, he then decided to focus his energy on radio presenting and DJ’ing.

The 30-year-old entered world of DJ’ing 2012 as a part – time radio presenter joining a Free State local radio station called Naledi FM from 2012-2017, and in 2017 he joined Hope FM as co-host of the afternoon drive where he stayed until 2018. In March 2020 DJ Bayonic joined an online radio called Grace Radio as a Music Compiler and he also hosted their morning drive show.

On Feb 2022 he joined Lekoa FM as the host of a ‘Amapiano’ show on Friday evenings.

About his nomination to the MAMA’s, the baby-faced DJ Bayonic said, “I am thrilled about my first nomination. The news took me by surprise as I never anticipated recognition for what I am doing with love. I’ve always been motivated by my passion for radio.”

He added that as June is a “Youth Month”, he would love to encourage young people of this country, especially youth in the Vaal to always pursue and follow what they’re passionate about to contribute in the future of South Africa.
