‘They don’t like me and they want to kill me’: Pensioner (72)

“I only have High Blood Pressure and nothing else.”

SEBOKENG. – A 72-year-old has coming to the Sebokeng Police Station for food since last weekend.

After eating she is said to go sleep at a friend’s place, fearing to go to her home in Sebokeng’s Hostel Hostel 2.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, the pensioner, Tenjiwe Princess Nxasana, originally from Matatiele, Eastern Cape, said that she arrived at the hostel in 1986 and has been living there since, while operating different businesses, the last one being as a chicken seller.

Her arrival at the police station was apparently caused by gunshots that she heard in front of her house. These were apparently from people who did not like her, and want her dead.

This was apparently also not the first time that shots had been fired in front of her house as, according to her, threats had apparently also been made against her to leave her home.

“I can’t return to the hostel; people do not like me there and want me out. They want to kill me. I just want to get my things, and with the help of the Good Samaritans, go back home to Matatiele,” she said.

While waiting for the ‘Good Samaritans’, Nxasana said that she would rather go to a local old age home, and when asked if she has and medical problems that perhaps could have led her to “think that people want to kill her or no one likes her at the hostel,” she said, “I only have High Blood Pressure and nothing else.”

Nxasana mentioned that she has a daughter and a son that she has been separated from since the early 2000’s. The daughter is married and lives in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga while the son works in Durban.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane said the police would like the community members to assist them in locating the family of the pensioner.

“ She (only) comes for breakfast, lunch, and supper. Thereafter sleeps at friend’s places which she did not disclose. She alleges that she does not have the contact numbers of her family members and relatives. She is from Sebokeng Hostels and refuses to go back home. Any person who may have information about Tenjiwe’s family members can contact Sebokeng SAPS on 0824989563, 08600 10111 or 10111,” Mokhachane concluded.
