Another music sensation from ‘Shavas’

He promotes his music by conducting high school tours every beginning of the year, visiting different schools to give them memorable performances.

SHARPEVILLE.- Godfrey Tshukudu Wilson (23), also known as “Ciber The Gypsy”, is an emerging musician hailing from the streets of Sharpeville.

His musical journey began in primary school where he started rapping with his friends. It all started for him in grade six, and as they say, the rest is history.

Sedibeng Ster caught up with this promising musician, who articulates himself well in English, to uncover what inspired him to pursue a career in music at such a young age. Tshukudu Wilson shared that he discovered his talent for rapping when he was put on stage with a mic to perform his favourite song playing in the background during grade six. He realised his potential as a rapper at a young age, performing in front of fellow learners on stage. This experience boosted his confidence and ignited his passion for music.

“I felt great and on top of the world, and from that day, I told myself this is me, I’m going to be a big thing in the music industry,” he recalled.

Upon reaching high school, Tshukudu Wilson was introduced to a guy named ‘K Stack’ who helped him record his first song. They built a strong bond, and together they worked on his first album titled “All In Head” for two years before completing it with “Jolly Beats.”

In an intimate interview with Sedibeng Ster, Tshukudu Wilson shared that he promotes his music by conducting high school tours every beginning of the year, visiting different schools to give them memorable performances. He also co-founded the “Neighbourhood Link” movement, bringing together various artists and creatives to showcase their talent alongside IGA-Makhulu Diniso and his Ketane Movement.

Unfortunately, due to lack of funding and resources, they couldn’t sustain the project, which used to take place at Sharpeville Monument for two to three months consistently. Tshukudu Wilson dedicated all his efforts to his grandparents, who raised him and played a significant role in shaping him into the man he is today.

He believes his grandparents played a crucial role in his life, and he is forever grateful for their influence. “Grootman, look at me now,” he said, “I know they are proud because they have built a strong product, the last of a dying breed. So, I will forever be grateful for them because if it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t speak English as well as I do today.”
