Suspects arrested for possession of hijacked bakkie

Whilst the police were busy patrolling, they received a tip-off from a reliable source of suspects who were busy tempering with H100 - bakkie and stripping its interior.

VANDERBIJILPARK.- Two suspects are expected in court soon after they were arrested for being in possession of a vehicle hijacked in the vicinity of Vanderbijlpark.

The police were conducting crime prevention duties around the Orange Farm policing area.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Shaan Motsapi said whilst the police were busy patrolling, they received a tip-off from a reliable source of suspects who were busy tempering with H100 – bakkie and stripping its interior.

The police proceeded to the said crime scene. Upon arrival, they found two suspects busy stripping the interior of the white Hyundai H100 bakkie. After they were questioned, the suspect failed to provide reasons why they’re stripping the vehicle.

“The two suspects were immediately placed under arrest, and upon further investigation. The owner was contacted. The owner confirmed that, he was hijacked of his motor vehicle earlier while he was traveling along Golden Highway, Vanderbijlpark area and dumped in De – Deur area,” Motsapi said.

He said the two suspects were detained at Orange Farms for possession of hijacked motor vehicle and kidnapping.

Motsapi said the two suspects will soon appear at Vereeniging Magistrate’s Court facing charges of possession of hijacked motor vehicle and kidnapping.

The Station Commander Brigadier MJ Manamela applauded the members for swift response, diligence and the commitment shown to serve the community.

The Brigadier alluded that the members deserve a standing ovation for work well done.
