Ggaka turns 96

“We are very fortunate to have her in our lives after having suffered a stroke three times in her old age."

SEBOKENG.-  Dorah Ggaka celebrated her 96’ birthday in style over the weekend.

Her her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, together with the community came together to appreciate her for the role she has played in their lives.

This unique celebration took place at Sabalele’s place in Zone 17..

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Christina Tshabalala said her grandmother is a great pillar of strength, not only to the family but also to the Zone 17 community. She said that reaching 96 is a mile achievement for her grandmother.

“We are very fortunate to have her in our lives after having suffered a stroke three times in her old age. We are truly grateful to God for keeping her alive for us and we also appreciate everything she has done for us.  We admire the strength she possesses that is still keeping our family standing till this day.”

Ggaka is one of the Zone 17 senior citizens who is admired and appreciated by young and old for her wisdom to help those in need. Ggaka told Sedibeng Ster that she thanks God for keeping her until this day. She said she wants to celebrate her birthdays beyond 100 years.

“I want to thank God for adding more numbers to my life, and for having kept me alive even when I suffered stroke three times. I want to thank my children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and the Zone 17 community for celebrating this day with me. This means a lot to me to see that at my age I’m still appreciated not only by my family but the community,” said Ggaka.
