Local boy inspired Vaal youngsters

It was an individual brilliant goal bothered with some arrogance.

SEDIBENG.- While the focus was on the Nedbank Cup final between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, there was also action galore here back home at various venues on Saturday.

Despite this much anticipated final, the local development teams were involved in the Emfuleni Local Football Association’s (ELFA) Junior League.

Since the start of the junior leagues two weeks ago, there has been excitement all over Emfuleni area with parents come in numbers to support their children. Even the chilly weather didn’t stop them from attending these exciting games. The day’s program started with the u/11 followed by the u/13, u/15 and u/17.

The coaches had to rush the program to allow these youngsters to go and watch the afternoon final in particular local boy, Relebohile Mofokeng, who scored the winning goal when Pirates beat Sundown 2-1. Mofokeng scored a brilliant goal in the closing stages of the game much to the delighted of the Sedibeng soccer fans.

Back to the junior league games, the River Galaxy FC beat LM Sports Academy 3-1 in the exciting u/17 encounter.  This game took place at Cecil Oldridge Park on Saturday with tempers flying high from both benches. This was top of the table clash encounter.  In another game, Junior Swallows FC beat Seven Stars FC 2-1 while Two Touch FC defeated United Colours FC 1-0.
