Man (33) arrested in connection with housebreakings

Two filed guns, ammunition and belonging alleged to be from a housebreaking found in possession of the 33-year-old arrested suspect.

BOIPATONG. – Sedibeng Infrastructure and the K9 Unit arrested a 33-year-old male suspect in connection with a house robbery that occurred in Arkonpark. The arrest was made during an early morning operation on Wednesday, May 22.

According to Boipatong police spokeswoman Sergeant Thembeka Maxambela, the suspect was apprehended after intelligence was received and operationalized, leading to the recovery of stolen items, including clothes and electrical appliances.

The police also discovered the victim’s cellphone in the suspect’s possession, solidifying the case against him.

“Further investigation led to the suspect being found with two firearms: a Norinco Star with the serial number filed off, along with 13 live rounds of ammunition and one magazine, and a Glock 19 with 8 live rounds of ammunition and another magazine,” she said.

Sedibeng Cluster Police Commissioner, Major General Nkhensani Lemba praised the two units for their dedication and swift action.

“This successful operation showcases the power of collaboration and the importance of community involvement in the fight against crime. We will continue to work together to create a safer, more secure environment for all,” she stated.

The suspect is currently being investigated for multiple charges, including possession of suspected stolen property, possession of an unlicensed firearm, and possession of live ammunition.
