Lindiwe to be buried on Sunday

SEBOKENG. – The funeral service of Lindiwe Malindi (31), the daughter of the business owner of Boiketlong Funeral Directors in Sebokeng will be laid to rest this Sunday.

Malindi was shot and killed by assailants when she was closing the family business in the Industrial area, Zone 10, Extension 1 in Sebokeng last week. The Sebokeng police are investigating a case involving the murder of Malindi and three attempted murders after an incident where four individuals were shot at the Boiketlong Funeral Director’s premises.

According to Police spokesperson, Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane, the victims were in the process of locking the business premises when they noticed two unidentified individuals approaching the deceased’s vehicle parked outside the yard. The deceased was seated in the driver’s seat, accompanied by one female in the front passenger seat and another female in the rear passenger seat.

“One of the suspects began firing shots at the driver, identified as Lindiwe Malindi (31), the daughter of the Boiketlong Funeral Directors owner. She sustained multiple gunshot wounds. As one employee attempted to aid the deceased, a suspect shot him once. Another employee was shot three times by the suspects. Subsequently, the suspects returned to the vehicle and shot the front passenger once,” Mokhachane explained, noting that while the rear passenger was not shot, she experienced trauma.

Following the attack, the suspects fled toward the Boiketlong squatter camp. The victims were swiftly transported to the hospital for medical treatment, where Malindi was pronounced dead.

“The suspects remain unidentified, nothing was taken or stolen and the motive for the shooting is yet to be determined,” Mokhachane added.

Family spokesperson, Kido Mashinini, said that the family only wants closure.

“We are very hurt as a family, and all we want is closure. Our prayers are that the suspects be found and they come and tell us why, why did they do this?” Mashinini said.

A memorial service will be held for Malindi at the Saul Tsotetsi Sports Centre in Zone 14, Sebokeng on (Thursday) from noon while the funeral service will be held at her home in Golden Gardens (GG), Sebokeng on Sunday from 8:00.
