Govendors FC crowned Easter Soccer Tournament Champions

The organisers said that the tournament went as planned.

SHARPEVILLE.- Govendors FC were crowned the Annual Easter Soccer Tournament Champions.

This long weekend soccer tournament came to an end at James dusty soccer ground in Phelandaba, Sharpeville with finals being on Easter Monday.

Govendors FC smiled to the bank with a cheque of R 13 000 after they beat the two-time defending champions Jealous Down FC 5-4 on penalties. It was a great advert for kasi football with the local soccer fans coming in big numbers to support their respective teams.

TS Kings we also crowned the tournament champions in the u/15 category.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, after the tournament, Tshepo Koatla, one of the organisers said that the tournament went as planned. He thanked all the participating teams and the Sharpeville community for supporting this initiative.

“We want to thank everyone for making this tournament a great success and from the bottom of my heart I want to say thank you. This tournament wouldn’t be a success without you, especially your support. We intend to make it bigger and better every year and maybe increase the number of teams to the Top 16.

“It was overwhelming to see the Sharpeville community, young and old spending their long weekend watching football. We are looking forward to next year’s tournament and congratulations to Govendors FC for being the tournament champions,” said Koatla.
