New born baby found dumped in Polokong

Police are currently investigating a case of concealment of birth.

SEBOKENG. – To some people, children are a gift, yet this seems to be a totally different story to others.

The Sebokeng police are currently investigating a case of concealment of birth after the lifeless body of a newborn baby was found in an open veld between Zone 21 and Polokong in Sebokeng last Thursday.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane said that two men were busy gathering wood in an open veld when they noticed a ‘suspicious’ looking black bag and upon approaching the bag, they saw something that looked like a baby’s head.

“On further inspection, they noticed that it was a baby. Emergency Medical Services were called to the scene and they verified that it was a female newborn baby (that was certified dead on the scene),” Mokhachane said.

The police appeal to the public for any information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect, a woman/girl that was pregnant but now she is suddenly not, without any reason and there is no baby to show.

Any person who may have information can contact Sebokeng SAPS on 082 498 9563, 08600 10111, or 10111
