Sharpeville SAPS engages community

The community was encouraged to identify and report drug outlets and illegal liquor outlets to redeem the situation in the area.

SHARPEVILLE.- The Sharpeville police held a public engagement in Tshepiso Phase 4 recently.

The Station Commander, Colonel Selota informed the community about the crimes that are dominating the area. Assault Common, GBH, and burglary residential and liquor and drugs are domestic violence contributors. Selota encouraged the community to identify and report drug outlets and illegal liquor outlets to redeem the situation in the area.

“He also emphasised that parents must know their children’s friends to know who their children associate themselves with. He also discouraged vigilantism and urged the community not to take the law into their own hands. The sub-sector forum structure was revisited and the vacant positions were filled. The station commander circulated the contact list containing CSC cellphone, Vispol Commanders, the Branch Commander, and the Station Commanders’ cell phones,” said police spokesperson Constable Busisiwe Sango.

The Community Policing Forum encouraged the community members to join the patrollers around the area and also to support them in the fight against crime.
