Operation Shanela sweeps Sharpeville streets clean

All the arrested suspects will appear at Vereeniging magistrate court soon.

SHARPEVILLE. – An installment of the South African Police Services’ (SAPS) ‘Operation Shanela’ got to the streets of Sharpeville recently.

This is where fourteen police stations of Sedibeng District came together with other law enforcement agencies such as the Gauteng traffic, CPF, the Department of Community Safety and the Crime Prevention Wardens (CPWs) came together to enforce the law in Sharpeville.

Police spokesperson, Constable Busisiwe Sango said that more than 19 suspects were arrested for various crimes such as drunk driving, undocumented persons, possession of drugs assault common, assault GBH, malicious property damage, and possession of stolen property.

All the arrested suspects will appear at Vereeniging magistrate court soon.
