VRC can make it three in a row against Pirates

VEREENIGING. – Game Day has arrived. Now is the time to stand up and be counted.

The first team players of the Vereeniging Rugby Club (VRC) will face their biggest challenge of the pre-season when they take on Pirates at 16:00 this afternoon in Vereeniging on the Phoenix High School’s A-field.

VRC is currently on a roll after victories over Secunda and Raiders, but that means nothing if they slip on a banana peal today.

VRC’s coach Ockert Brits chose a very strong and talented side for today’s clash and with flyers like Wian Koekemoer and Sweef Potgieter on the wings Pirates will have to bring their “A” game.

With a front row the calibre of Johannes van Deventer, Stefan Jacobs and Dawie Duffy VRC’s backline is set to have enough possession.

Brits also chose a  strong bench that if managed without unforseen changes could have a final say in the match up.

VRC’s team to face Pirates is (1-24): Johannes van Deventer, Stefan Jacobs, Dawie Duffy, Corne Nieuwenhuisen, Martin du Plessis, Pieter Nel, Junuis Deysel, Koos Bosman, Thabu Tau, Branden Hewitt, Sweef Potgieter, Erjee Hennop, Hendrik Smit, Wian Koekemoer, Marchelle van Vuuren, Emile Nagel, Donoven Venter, Liam Ambrotius, Felix Thoma, Wouter van der Berg, Charl Penning, Lendrich van Vuuren, Michael May and Ashley Mononyane.
