IBO title beckons for Donjuvan

This is probably going to be the young Meyerton man's toughest fight, but he will want to extend his winning record of five consecutive victories.

MEYERTON. -22-year-old Meyerton resident, Donjuan van Heerden will soon have the opportunity in France to win an IBO title just like his brother Chris.

Chris is a former IBO World Welterweight Champion, Donjuan will compete against Frenchman, Ismael Seck for the vacant IBO Continental World Middleweight title on November 24.

According to Van Heerden, he was supposed to compete for the title two months ago, but problems with his passport prevented him. “I’m incredibly excited and can’t wait. This is the first time I will participate overseas. The fight will take place in Toulouse,” he said excitedly.

Van Heerden and his coach, John Tshabalala have been working hard in the gym in Kibler Park and are ready to take on this challenge with both hands. The 34-year-old Seck is a seasoned boxer who is undefeated in his last six fights. This is probably going to be the young Meyerton man’s toughest fight, but he will want to extend his winning record of five consecutive victories.
