VANDERBIJL PARK. – Two matric students from Hoërskool Driehoek were seriously injured in a car accident in Rossini Boulevard on Friday, October 20.
The accident happened around 11:00.
Vaal Emergency Care were soon on the scene after which the fire brigade was called to free the driver from the car.
The first pupil was taken to the hospital where he is being treated for a broken arm and head wound, among other things.
The driver was stabilized at the scene and transported by helicopter to Alberton.
Shocked matric students stood around everywhere. Their school clothes full of cheerful messages written from mothers wishing each other good luck for the future.
Today was their last day of school. They kicked off the day with a worship service and the bell ceremony.
Where earlier today the bell cheerfully announced the end of their school career, the sirens of the ambulance told a sad story.
