Delayed waste collection leaves Emfuleni residents in a mess

There have been ongoing delays in respect of waste collection.

VEREENIGING. – The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Emfuleni says it is deeply concerned about the ongoing delays in waste collection.

Dady Mollo, the DA’s political head in the Emfuleni North Constituency, says residents have been left in unhealthy conditions for the past four weeks with waste pilling up in and around their homes.

Mollo says: “This again highlights the ANC-led Doomsday Coalition’s failure to deliver basic services to the people.

“As the voice of responsible governance and accountability, we cannot overlook this lapse in basic service delivery, particularly when it impacts the daily lives of the people we serve.

“The absence of regular waste collection has not only left our neighbourhoods unclean but also exposed our residents to health risks,” he says.

The DA has called upon the Emfuleni Local Municipality to take swift and decisive action to rectify this situation, to resume waste collection operations, and to establish open channels of communication with the residents about the corrective measures being taken.

“The community of Emfuleni deserves better, and the DA will ensure that residents receive the quality services they deserve. We will continue to hold the ANC-led Doomsday Coalition accountable for its service delivery failures, and work diligently to rectify this pressing issue,” Mollo concluded.
