Amazing news: Michael is awake and can talk!

The late Nicky Pretorius will be buried on Saturday in the same grave where his grandmother Elsie was buried barely two months ago.

Amidst the sadness of having to surrender their son, “Klein” Nicky Pretorius, to death, the parents of the Pretorius brothers were able to announce with joy on Wednesday that Michael, their other son who was injured in the accident, has recovered and can speak.

The boys’ father, Mr. Nicky Pretorius senior, let it be known that Michael recognizes him and Mrs. Lena Rossouw (Michael’s mother). Michael is still very confused but the doctors are pleased with his progress.

“Michael told us the Lord showed him the gates of Heaven. We told him about all the messages from people praying and caring for him. He appreciates it very much and says many, many thanks to everyone who thinks of him.”

Mariska van der Merwe gives these arrangements for the late Nicky’s memorial service which will take place tomorrow, Saturday 15 July, at The Village (at The Bar With No Name in Vaalpark):

  • Parking: When you arrive at The Bar with No Name you will see that there is a parking lot on the left, you will drive past the parking lot and back towards the back building. There will already be a white car and we will also put a page with an arrow on it for you to go in the right direction.
  • Please note that the restaurant section is still ongoing and therefore you enter through the back building’s doors, which lead to the Village.
  • When you enter you will see that the first 110 seats are reserved for family members only. Unfortunately, no friends can sit in the family area because the family is large and must sit together.
  • After the service, everyone please move out where further proceedings will take place and you will then move to the car.
  • As soon as the hearse has driven, everyone falls into the procession going to the grave together. We start with parents Nicky and Lena driving up behind the procession, followed by the family and friends.
  • We then move to the cemetery in Sasolburg where Nicky Pretorius will be laid to rest on top of his grandmother Elsie Pretorius.
  • After the burial ceremony everyone can move back to Bar With No Name where refreshments will be served in The Village.

We ask that everyone who attends the memorial service will consider the family on this day where we say goodbye to a beloved son, brother, grandchild, great-grandchild and nephew.
