WATCH: Truck catches fire near R59 blockhouse
A lorry caught fire this morning near the blockhouse on the R59.
MEYERTON. – Motorists were warned on Wednesday morning to be vigilant.
The fire brigade apparently received the call just before 05:00 this morning.
It is alleged that the fire started due to mechanical problems.
In a statement on Wednesday morning, July 12, Midvaal Local Municipality (MLM) said the truck burning on the R59 North is not related to the recent looting incidents on the N3.
“The truck’s trailer tire burst causing the fire. The driver immediately unhooked the trailer to ensure the fire doesn’t spread to the truck.”
MLM said cleaning operations are currently underway.
