PICS: Health MEC & ELM conducts fake food control inspection

SEDIBENG.- Provincial Health MEC Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko joined Emfuleni Local Municipality’s (ELM) Environmental Health inspectors in informing shop owners in Boipatong, on food safety principle to reduce the risk of harm that may emanate from unsafe food handling practices.
Nkomo-Ralehoko said they during the inspections they picked up some irregularities, with some of the shops not having the correct certificates.

The inspection took place on Wednesday, April 19.
Amos Gumede, Emfuleni Chief Environmental Health practitioner said his team conducted the fake food control inspection to monitor compliance and enforce food control legislation in food premises, and to educate communities about food safety related matters.
Gumede spoke about the purpose of conducting fake food inspections at food promises.
